Unverified staff-door route

One written guide sends you from an access card to a loading-dock gate. Recorded shopping runs do not show those steps. Read this so you do not confuse it with the cash-out loop.

Unverified staff-door route

This page is a claim, not a confirmed ending.

A written guide dated in public discussion to 2 October 2026 describes a linear escape:

  1. You spawn in the parking lot and enter through sliding doors into a lobby of overturned carts.
  2. The retail floor has checkout lanes, a central corridor, and a customer service desk.
  3. An access card is tucked behind that desk. Take it when the Locust's patrol leaves the corridor.
  4. The card overrides an electronic lock on a staff door at the back of the public floor.
  5. Staff rooms lead to maintenance corridors.
  6. Entering the last corridor starts a scripted chase through collapsing hallways.
  7. The run ends by sliding under a closing security gate at the loading dock.

That guide also says a careful player who already knows the layout might finish in about ten minutes, and that hesitation mid-chase is the usual failure. Those timing and failure notes belong to the written route. They are not a measured length of a shopping day.

What recordings show instead

Shopping footage starts and ends days at the front checkout. Players cash out in a safe zone they call a green square. They are still shopping on later days, including a Black Friday rush and at least one day five. None of the gameplay accounts gathered here show the card, the staff door, or the dock.

The map page can still use the front half of the description, because recordings do show the parking lot, lobby, retail floor, produce, deep aisles, frozen aisle, and aisle 9. Treat everything past the locked staff door as unverified layout. Do not skip a cash-out because you are hunting a card the round may not contain.

If a future update adds this route, the October 2026 game-page publishes did not say so. They had no changelog at all. Recheck the staff door in game after a patch rather than following this list as required progress.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there codes?

No working code and no expired code has been recorded, and no redemption screen has been documented. Progress comes from shopping days, quests, and the between-day shop.

How many groceries does each day ask for?

Recorded normal runs ask for 8 items on day one, 12 on day two, and 16 on a later day. The names change every run. Press M and follow the marked items. Do not memorize one fixed list.

How do you finish a shopping day?

Bring the marked groceries to the front checkout and cash out inside the entrance safe zone. In co-op the day does not close until the surviving players are in that zone together. Then each player readies up. One squad was auto-readied after about 20 seconds.

What should you do when you hear clicking?

Written guides treat nearby clicking as the Locust being close: turn the flashlight fully off and stand still. Recorded runs also stop on a scream and move once if a heartbeat continues. Do both. There is no documented number of seconds to wait.

Does clearing day three beat the game?

Not confirmed. The HUD can say 3 days to fill the order, and some groups call a cash-out a win, but no recording shows a win screen. Other runs continue to day five and describe an endless loop. The access-card ending is a separate unverified written route.

Do you have to pay for the flashlight?

Recorded runs receive a flashlight when the store goes dark. It is not shown as a shop purchase. The beam is described as weak. One session lost the flashlight after a death. A paid lamp has not been documented.
